What are the steps in building a website?

Building a website is like building a house. First, you need to find the location or address of the house. Then you need to put in the foundation. After the house is built, you will have to paint and furnish it. You might also want to install an alarm system, a hot tub or even a wireless network. The same steps apply to building a website. You need the domain name (or address) of your website, for instance "www.yahoo.com". Second you need to find the online service that will store your website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and make it available to the public. This service generally is offered by a hosting company. After that, you need to design the content of your website: text, pictures, movies and more--the paint and the furniture. After the site is done, you might want to set up e-commerce functions to sell your goods online, have an online database to do your accounting work, etc.
